WDBKA organised a visit to the Buckfast Abbey Apiary last summer. We enjoyed meeting Clare Densley as she showed us round, and persuaded her to come and give a talk for our winter lecture programme.

Clare is the Bee Unit Manager at the Abbey and will be speaking on ‘Pheremone Communication’.

Come and join us for what promises to be an entertaining, enjoyable start to our season of talks.

DBKA Annual Convention @ Blandford School

The Dorset Convention will be held in a new venue this year … Blandford School offers plentiful parking and good facilities.

Lesley Gasson, DBKA Education Officer is organising an interesting and informative day for all interested parties.

Tickets for the event are ยฃ5 for DBKA members and ยฃ10 for non memebers.

Please bring your own picnic or purchase a light lunch at the venue.

Guest speakers include Celia Davis, Pam Hunter, Dan Basterfield and Anne Rowberry.

W&DBKA Asian Hornet Meeting @ The Colliton Club, Dorchester DT1 1XZ

Mark White, the Dorset County Asian Hornet Co-ordinator, is leading a meeting for Weymouth and Dorchester BKA.

Mark will give a brief background to the lifecycle of the Asian Hornet , its identification, the current status in the UK and plans for action.

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

You are welcome to attend the meeting.

Open Meeting – Asian Hornet Workshop @ Bridport Christian Fellowship Hall, East St carpark,
Feb 15 @ 7:30 pm โ€“ 8:30 pm

This is an open meeting for anyone with an interest in raising their awareness of the Asian Hornet and it’s potential impact in the UK.

So far the incursions identified last year appear to have been contained, but as Kevin Pope BDI puts it, it’s a matter of when, not if, it establishes itself permanently.

Peter Crabbe is now the Asian Hornet c0-0rdinator for WDBKA and will make a short presentation
