Dorchester & Weymouth BKA have very kindly invited us to join them for their Asian Hornet Trap Workshop – details below

Sunday 26th Feburary 1.30 for 2.00pm – Asian Hornet Trap-making Workshop:

Location: Sunninghill Prep School, South Court, South Walks, Dorchester DT1 1EB

Two of their members have been on workshops to make your own Asian Hornet Monitoring Trap and are happy to pass on their knowledge about this so we have arranged a workshop. There is plenty of parking at the venue.
LIST OF ITEMS FOR HORNET TRAP WORKSHOP to bring with you if you can

plastic bottles made from PET (1.5-2.0 litre, ideally with ridged sides, bottom section marginally wider than middle section)
plastic coated wire – needs to be two thicknesses, really – thin for the top and thicker for the base (we said we could do this)
100mm square of wire mesh such as varroa floor mesh (I gather Nicky can provide this)
sharp knife, eg a Stanley, to puncture bottles before cutting
scissors, pliers/wire cutters/stapler (for stapling the inverted top section to the middle section)
drill with 9mm bit for drilling caps
flame and nails as per the NBU sheet or soldering irons and asbestos or heat resistant pad – need to check with the venue in case there are any fire reg restrictions
I am sure several of us will go to this event, as we will not be holding one of our own as this is so near – please let me know who is willing to go as we can hopefully share transport also I can let Sally Leslie know approx numbers. Thank you
